The Success Formula

Many people assume that their success depends on paper qualifications, general intelligence, height, connections, good looks and etc. However, these are just outside factors that contribute little if any to success.

The main determinant of success is in fact attitude, followed by knowledge and other things that you think count. If examined carefully, all successful people possess great attitude in living and working, thus making it easy for them to succeed.

Human being is a special type of species because we are born with infinite mental capacity for learning. We can all be creative and clever in our own way of life. We all are capable of becoming experts in our area of specialization and excellence.

Since our birth, we have learned on a daily basis to cope with our life so that we can survive happily if not abundantly. All human beings learn and have knowledge, but not all human beings become successful. We can scope this down to examine a classroom of 20 students who have almost everything the same including teachers, course-books, classroom, and etc. Yet, why can’t all of them have the same high score? Why can’t all of them become successful in learning?

If examined closely, there are surely other important factors, not only knowledge, determining success, and one of the main elements is attitude.  Knowledge is what we know and philosophy is what we think. But, attitude is how we act towards things that happen to us. Successful people are believed to possess a great attitude; they deal with things from a positive and good point of view while unsuccessful people use a negative attitude to lead their life.

The good news is that positive and strong attitudes can be developed through learning and education which plays an important role in shaping people attitude whether for good or bad. Unfortunately, people usually think of education as schooling only, thus making them stop learning once they are out of school. This is a disastrous philosophy since education can be absorbed from anywhere. We should know that education is divided into three main forms including formal, non-formal and informal.

Unfortunately, the great majority of people stop learning when they leave school or university. Learning is a process which should continue throughout life. When you stop learning, you stop growing. If you stay as you are, then you stay where you are. The great news is that you make the necessary effort to set those goals for self development, business, and private life, than a whole series of mental laws will come to your assistance. People who set goals become successful. It’s automatic!

There are many people who read and learn a lot, and they are often regarded as well-educated. They have qualifications. However, some of them are not successful at all because they still hang on to their negative emotions like fear of failure, blame, self-pity etc. They also hang on to their self-limiting beliefs, and often have negative attitudes towards enterprise. They are also brilliant at imagining that rocks stand between them and their desires.

For these people, they should understand that if what they have learned a lot does not change their behavior, then what have they learned. Education is supposed to change a person’s behavior. So, if education does not change your behavior, then what have you learned?

In short, whereas knowledge or other outside factors are just light-weight players in contributing to success, attitude is the real heavy weight. Whether you become successful depends a lot more on your attitude towards life. So, as much as you yearn for knowledge, you should try even harder to build a strong and positive attitude which can help you solve more problems happily and easily.
